But Netflix’s new top film, entitled Troll, doesn’t come across as cute, at all. The film actually exposes trolls as a darker and scarier mythical creature that hail from Nordic mythology. With the film’s success, many can’t help but ask if there will be a Troll 2 movie. Here’s what we know so far.
Will There Be a Sequel to the Norwegian Troll Movie?
What’s On Netflix asked the creators of the film about the possibility of a sequel. Since the movie’s ending doesn’t give a definite answer, it’s possible that a second film could be made and possibly turn the movie into a franchise. Producer, Kristian Strand Sinkerud, said: As filmmakers, you always have ambitions to make something that can last a little longer than one film. Of course, we have ambitions to make a sequel and perhaps two sequels, but it all depends on how the audience are responding to Troll."
Espen Horn, another producer, said: “We can say it like this: this has been a great collaboration with Roar and Netflix and we’d love to do it again.” The movie’s director, Roar Uthaug, would rather wait until a decision is made.
Potential Troll 2 Story
Consider this your spoiler alert. Don’t proceed any further if you haven’t watched the movie. The ending of Troll tells us that the government already knew these creatures were in existence. So when Nora (played by Ine Marie Wilmann)’s father came close to the truth, he was admitted in a mental hospital. As it turns out, the Christians who massacred the family of trolls sparred one. But this wasn’t the case. And in the first movie, we see the Troll in a battle of survival. The movie, however, showed that UV light caused it to die. The question is whether he stays dead in the sequel or if there will be another creature like him that will avenge his death. It’s likely that this will be answered in the sequel.
