Who is Kang the Conqueror in Loki Finale?
Though his name was not explicitly stated, it is none other than Kang portrayed by Jonathan Majors. He said people called him “a conquerer” and Miss Minutes referred to him as “He Who Remains” making it sound creepier and more cryptic. If there is one character who definitely stood out in the finale, it’s him, he stole the show and pointed the spotlight on himself. He explained why he created the TVA and what happened before, and if you consider the perspective that he has, just like what Loki did, you would think, why is he even the next big bad? He tells Sylvie and Loki that he isolated the sacred timeline for the other alternate realities to prevent a multiversal war, and also, other versions of him who have some sinister plans as he encountered his variant from the 31st century who started the discovery of multiple universes and for other versions of him, it meant new places to be conquered. In the end, his variants went toe-to-toe in an all-out war and tried to come out on top of all his kind. He only won when he encountered Alioth and weaponized the giant cloud to put a stop to the bleeding on the war of his variants. He also explained to Sylvie and Loki that if they kill him, the sacred timeline would branch out, opening doors to other versions of him who would prefer a ruthless way of taking over the multiverse. In the end, Sylvie still fulfilled her “glorious purpose” and killed He Who Remains. As for Loki, he was pushed by Sylvie into a timeline wherein a variant of Kang openly rules the Time Variance Authority and that one looked dangerous as he instructed the TVA to let the branches grow instead of cutting it off. In the comics, Kang is one of the villains who traveled through time. He is a scholar from the 31st century, a descendant of Reed Richards’ father, Nathaniel. He got obsessed with history and through Doctor Doom, he was able to go to anytime he wanted, even becoming a Pharaoh where he met En Sabah Nur/ Apocalypse. He reinvented himself and got a name, Kang the Conqueror, and made his temporal kingdom by conquering galaxies through time. His character was also involved with Renslayer whom he even made a princess. Kang the Conqueror is confirmed to be back in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania but it seems that such a version of him would be a darker one considering that Sylvie already killed him.
