This week though, some promising news regarding the future of Star Wars films came to light with Lucasfilm reportedly developing a new theatrical project led by Damon Lindelof and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Now, more details about the exciting project are being disclosed. As per a follow-up scoop from The Hollywood Reporter, Lindelof and Obaid-Chinoy’s upcoming big-screen project includes an impressive writer’s room including Patrick Somerville (The Leftovers), Rayna McClendon (Willow), and Andy Greenwald (Briarpatch). The outlet also claims that The Mandalorian’s Dave Filoni also joined their writing session last July, suggesting that he could also be involved in the series. Filoni, of course, is beloved by fans of the franchise and has proven time and time again that he has his finger on the pulse, especially when given free rein creatively so he’d definitely be a great addition to the project. Also Read: New Star Wars Film Currently in the Works from MCU DirectorTo be clear, Filoni was also involved in the sequel trilogy in some capacity so it’s no longer surprising how he might end up becoming part of the untitled film.
