To be fair, the first Spider-Verse film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, may have portrayed Miles Morales in high school, but it already depicted pretty mature themes such as death and violence, so with Miles expected to be exploring another web-slinging journey in Across the Spider-Verse while in college, we’ll have to be prepared what maturity themes are waiting for us here.
Miles Morales may have won against the villain, but he lost the Spider-Man in his world, struggled to become the next Spider-Man, and had to mourn the passing of his villainous uncle. It could be fun in other aspects such as enjoying the bright colors and the ride itself, but for the most part, it looks like we’ll have to wait for more updates or the film release in June 2023.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently slated for its theatrical release on June 2, 2023, while Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is scheduled for release on March 29, 2024.
