Throughout the Percy Jackson series, the Greek gods have been pivotal to the story as it is their children with humans that are on the spotlight. Indeed, it is and will never be complete without the Greek Gods and in a new blog of Rick Riordan, he shares that the gods have visited the set. Riordan posted on his personal blog, “We’ve also started to have visits on set from some of the gods… Again, can’t give you any hints, but if you’ve read The Lightning Thief, you can probably take some good guesses which gods I mean.” Riordan, however, said that he couldn’t announce yet who will be playing these Greek gods, “Casting news? Nothing I can announce. Good things come to those who wait.” Riordan shared how much of the book has been covered already in their filming, “In terms of content, we are about up to chapter sixteen in the book, though as I’ve shared before, we don’t film in strict chronological order.”
Also, Riordan shares they got a visit from a really cute service dog, “One of our staff members is now training a service dog, and while I could not pet him while he had his vest on, I was allowed to take a picture. Does he not look like the goodest of boys?” Riordan even teases the arrival of a dog in the series which may be Mrs. O’Leary, “I got to meet another dog as well, who will actually appear in the show. Can you guess? I can’t give you any other hints yet, but SO CUTE.” For those who have read the book series of Rick Riordan, from the very first one, The Lightning Thief, it’s easy to guess who are the Greek gods that would appear in the first season of the series.

No doubt Dionysus would be there because he’s the camp director. There’d be Zeus, of course, as he is the one looking for the Lightning Thief, then, there’s Ares who tells Percy where his shield could be found and fought Percy in the end, and the father of the titular hero, Poseidon. As exciting as this update could be, there are still no confirmation yet who would the cast playing these Greek gods but many are calling on Logan Lerman, the actor who first played Percy Jackson, to take the role of Poseidon. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set for a 2024 release on Disney Plus.
