Now, in a shocking turn of events, it looks like there’s actual legitimacy to all the rumors that have been floating around online. Speaking with AP Entertainment, producer Jerry Bruckheimer was asked if there’s actually a possibility of Depp ever returning to the Pirates franchise, especially considering there have been reports from various outlets. Getting straight to the point, Bruckheimer revealed that they’re working on it but nothing definitive has been set in stone. He said: “We’re still working on it. Nothing’s definitive yet but we continue to take little baby steps getting towards the screenplay.” Also Read: Johnny Depp Reportedly Returning for Pirates of the Caribbean Spinoff Interestingly, Bruckheimer also previously stated that Margot Robbie’s Pirates reboot is still in active development, despite the actress’ claim that Disney has given up on the project. Obviously, if Depp is set for his triumphant return to the franchise, a reboot will be out of the table but that’s not to say that the all-female flick can’t happen. It’s worth mentioning though that Disney hasn’t announced anything yet so it’s still best to take this with a huge grain of salt. But the idea of Depp returning to the role he helped put on the map isn’t too farfetched to believe and frankly, it’s the least thing the House of Mouse could do after unceremoniously dropping him. That said, every film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is available to stream on Disney+.
