The new trailer gives Nier fans a proper look at action-packed scenes that should be familiar to those who have played the game. More staff members were also revealed alongside the new trailer.
NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Story, Cast
While several trailers have been released over the past months, this is the first proper trailer that shows off lengthier scenes. At over a minute long, it also shows us what to expect when it comes to the anime’s story. Based on the new trailer, the show will likely be an adaptation of the game as it shows a sequence of 2B and 9S fighting a large machine, which is exactly what happened in the opening of the Nier Automata video game. Nier Automata Anime Staff, Release Date
When the anime was announced, some believed that it might feature an original story given that there are anime-original characters. The trailer shows that it will instead adapt the game, though there might still be some changes in the show’s story. What we do know for sure is that the upcoming Nier Automata anime features experienced staff members, including Action Supervisor Shun Tachibana (My Senpai Is Annoying), CG Action Supervisor Takahiro Kawakoshi (Btooom!), and Art Director Hirofumi Sakagami (Shadows House), among others. NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Episode 1 will be released on January 7 at 24:00 JST on Japanese TV channels (effectively January 8 at midnight). Ahead of the premiere, a live stream will be broadcast on December 28 featuring the show’s cast and staff. The Nier Automata anime is also confirmed to stream on Crunchyroll.
