The Midnight Club is based on Christopher Pike’s novels bearing the same name. It follows a group of eight terminally ill teenagers who form the ‘Midnight Club’ after meeting every night to tell each other scary stories. Out of interest for the supernatural, the teens eventually made a pact that whoever dies first within the group will try to contact the others beyond their grave. One of them successfully does, but only led to stranger things happening along with it.
While the series garnered positive reviews from its Season 1, it only stayed on Netflix’s Top 10 for three weeks, with 18.8 million viewership, as compared to recent releases like Wednesday with 341.2 million hours hit in its first week. Of course, this would render the cancellation of the streaming site for a Season 2 valid, as reported on The Wrap.
Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher will be his last project on Netflix for now, which is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s 1839 short story bearing the same title.
It is a shame that The Midnight Club won’t be getting a Season 2, especially after ending with a shocking cliffhanger that could be bridged for a continuation. However, you can still watch all episodes of The Midnight Club Season 1 on Netflix.
