The Sandman graphic novels are not exactly a violent comic series but it does have its terrifying moments courtesy of the Corinthian. So can we expect the Netflix series to lean towards some horrific scenery? Neil Gaiman responded to a fan who admits to being squeamish, assuring them that they (hopefully) have nothing to worry about.
“It’s never (I hope) too graphic. Like the comic and the @audible_com version, it does most of the work inside your head,” Gaiman tweeted.
It certainly sounds like Neil Gaiman doesn’t want the scary parts of the graphic novels to overshadow the story of Dream and the Endless. On the other hand, we’re also eager to see how the series will depict the Corinthian who is the stuff of nightmares. With that in mind, we can’t wait to see what will happen in the upcoming Netflix show.
The Sandman will star Tom Sturridge as Dream, with Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Boyd Holbrook as the Corinthian, Charles Dance as Sir Roderick Burgess, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, Joely Richardson as Ethel Cripps, David Thewlis as Dr. John Dee, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death. The most recent cast addition is Star Wars legend Mark Hamill who was confirmed to portray Merv Pumpkinhead.
The Sandman will premiere on Netflix on August 5, 2022.
