The post-credits scene of Ms. Marvel featured the surprise appearance of Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers, who suddenly showed up after seemingly switching places with Kamala Khan. Her shocking cameo delighted a lot of fans who have been wanting to see the hero pop up in the series considering that she is Kamala’s idol and also link their upcoming team-up in The Marvels.
Speaking recently with Deadline, Ms. Marvel creator Bisha K. Ali addressed Carol Danvers’ cameo appearance in the post-credits scene in which she confirmed that it was indeed her who showed up and switched places with Kamala just like what most viewers have suspected.
“That is Carol Danvers in Kamala’s bedroom. What you’re seeing is exactly what you think you’re seeing,” Ali said. “That’s her, there’s no magic there. All I can say beyond that is to enjoy the movie in one year’s time.”
Ali also shared her excitement about having Brie Larson appear in the series and seeing Captain Marvel standing in Kamala’s bedroom during the quick moment.
“I wasn’t there when it was shot but seeing it was incredible!,” she said. “Also, her new suit looks so good with how it coordinates with Kamala. It was delicious! The joy I felt seeing her standing in Kamala’s bedroom I can’t describe. It was perfect. That’s been Kamala’s place for safety and where she expresses herself. So seeing Captain Marvel standing in that space, there’s just so much joy in that scene.”
However, when asked if Carol Danvers’ switching places with Kamala has something to do with the latter’s DNA mutation, Ali teased that it will be answered in The Marvels, “It will all be revealed in the movie. I was excited to help set up all these riddles for you guys that will lead into the movie where the story continues.”
It really was exciting to see Captain Marvel herself show up in the post-credits scene of the series. Not only because of her important role in Kamala Khan’s life, but it is also a tease on how they are setting up the events of The Marvels, where the two heroes are expected to team up. It’s now exciting to see how Kamala will react once she finally meets her idol in the film.
