According to YouTuber and movie pundit John Campea (via The Direct), sources told him that Kennedy will exit as the president of Lucasfilm before or after the release of the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 film next year. “This is what I have heard: I have heard that the decision to remove Kathy Kennedy has already been made and that she will be gone either sometime before or very, very, very shortly thereafter the release of Indiana Jones 5,” he revealed in his show.
However, Campea also warned his viewers to take his scoop with a grain of salt although one of the sources that told him about the information has been frequently accurate in the past. He continued, “Now, I want to be very, very clear here: I cannot independently say to you and confirm to you that this is a fact. I will say that one of the two people that have contacted me has a 1000% average on the things they’ve informed me of.” Assuming that the information ends up being true, this news is obviously a big deal for Star Wars fans. Whether you like Kennedy’s administration or not, there is no denying that her handling of the franchise has not been widely loved, especially in the past couple of years when there is a lack of new projects on the feature film side. We should be able to find out soon enough whether this information ends up being true since it will mark a huge change to the franchise in the coming years and it would also be interesting to see if the potential new management will affect some of the projects that are currently in development.
