Specifically, Akasaka commented after the final chapter that there are a few things left unfinished regarding Kaguya-sama’s story.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Manga Ending
In case you missed it, the final chapter of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War was released this week, and it gave the series a proper finale after its years-long run. While you’re probably familiar with the TV anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures, the show is based on the manga of the same name by Aka Akasaka. The manga began serialization in Miracle Jump back in May 2015, and it was moved to Weekly Young Jump in March 2016. Even before the anime adaptation, the manga was already quite popular, but the anime skyrocketed the series’ popularity. The anime itself is also a big hit as it is now three seasons long, with an anime movie releasing this December. Back in June, it was confirmed that the series only have a bit over a dozen chapters left before its end, meaning it was set to end in October or November this year. Finally, it was announced last week that the series will end in the next chapter. While the series has ended, it seems that its anime adaption will continue as the movie is set to release soon. Meanwhile, Akasaka is also busy working on his other ongoing manga series titled Oshi no Ko. Plus, he seems to have another project lined up soon. READ MORE: Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Ending Explained
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Spin-off
As for the spin-off, Akasaka had a few comments about the series finale (as spotted by @shonenleaks). Specifically, Akasaka said that he had a few things left unfinished with the series and that maybe he can “digest that somehow.” In his comment, he also mentioned that he would like to do a Kaguya-sama: Love Is War spin-off, likely following the events after the finale. Right now, Akasaka has only expressed interest in a spin-off as there’s no official word or plans for it yet. Still, this is a good indication that more content may come fans’ way in the future.
