Speaking recently with Men’s Health, Boyega was asked about the rumors that he has joined an MCU project to which he denied the claims and also revealed that he has no plans to join the franchise anytime soon since it is not part of his current vision for his career.
“That’s not in the vision for me now,” Boyega said. “I want to do nuanced things. I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top Iron Man in that universe.”
It looks like we won’t be able to see Boyega play a major role in any future MCU projects soon based on his comment. It is not surprising to hear it considering that he has stepped back from being involved in a franchise film after the sequel trilogy and has mostly starred in smaller films.
Obviously, this does not put down the possibility of him doing an MCU project someday in the future since he didn’t exactly say that he has no intention at all to be part of the franchise and he just has a specific path that he prefers for his career at the moment.
Considering that there are numerous projects and phases that are slated in the MCU for the next several years, there are a lot of opportunities for the Star Wars actor to join the franchise if ever he’ll seriously consider it at some point, especially since some of his former co-stars are already part of it.
