Is Regé-Jean Page Being Recast in Bridgerton?
Regé-Jean Page easily made everyone swoon over him as he makes Daphne Brigderton fall in love with him. However, Regé-Jean Page did not return for the second season due to his contract only lasting for just a year. His absence in Bridgerton Season 2 was explained, though, that the Duke of Hastings preferred to stay home with his child with Daphne. Still, the fans clamored for Regé-Jean Page’s return as the Duke and if he would appear in the next season of the show, there’s a possibility that he could be recast. Regé-Jean Page spoke with Variety about this possibility of being recast in Bridgerton and the actor seems fine with the decision if in case he would not be back to reprise the role, “They’re free to do as they like." Regé-Jean Page added that he’s happy about how the Duke’s story ended in Bridgerton Season 1, “Shonda and I had a wonderful conversation at the end of Season 1. We were quite happy with how we stuck the landing on that one.”

Still, no announcement has been made whether Regé-Jean Page’s Duke would be recast. No word from Netflix nor the creator, Chris Van Dusen, has spoken on the matter and on whether they would renew Page’s contract to come back as Duke. With Bridgerton being renewed for Seasons 3 and 4, Regé-Jean Page’s return as the Duke could, more or less, add to the drama especially with the Daphne and Simon left behind plus Anthony’s quest to find his pair. Bridgerton is a Netflix original series based on the collection of Julia Quinn’s novels. Created by Chris Van Dusen, the show is produced by Shondaland, its first on Netflix. Bridgerton follows the titular family set during the Regency era of London where children of the noble are being introduced to the society to find their match. Bridgerton Season 1 and 2 are now streaming on Netflix and Season 3 is still under development.
