Since Craig stepped down for the role, numerous rumors of who would succeed him have not rested even for the day, and recently, The Hobbit star Luke Evans wasn’t able to escape the hearsay, and he only has one answer to say.
In a recent interview with the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen (via Gloucestershire Live), Evans subtly addressed the 007 speculation. “The new James Bond? Who knows. Nobody knows. I mean, it would be nice, wouldn’t it? Don’t jinx it,” he responded. In Case You Missed It: What Is the Next James Bond Movie After No Time To Die?
Evans rose to fame for his noteworthy performances, beginning with his role as Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit trilogy. Aside from his career on London’s West End, the actor also played Gaston in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. With his growing talent and portfolio, Evans is obviously enthusiastic to add James Bond to his list.
However, the Dracula Untold star has some real competition going on given that James Bond is one of the biggest franchises in the world and A-list names have been consistently thrown out because only a deserving one should wear 007’s tuxedo.
Henry Cavill, from Man of Steel, has been the most popular choice among fans to be the new face of James Bond. Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, and Regé-Jean Page have also found their names at the center of the Bond speculation, although it was recently reported that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the biggest contender for the role.
Following one of his interviews in November, where he said, “Let’s kill my character off and go find another Bond and go find another story,” Craig recently told the U.K. ’s The Times that the reason he left the 007 suit was simply because, “I don’t want to do this any more,”
The new face of James Bond is still being sought; hopefully, the search will be over soon.
