Variety has confirmed that Made for Love and The Resort star Cristin Milioti is joining the cast of The Penguin. She will be playing Sofia Falcone, the daughter of prominent Gotham City mob boss Carmine Falcone, who was played by John Turturro in the first film. The project is being described as a Scarface-like series about the rise of Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin) in the Gotham criminal underworld and it is set to take place after the events of The Batman. It is also conceived as a limited series although it is unknown yet how many episodes will it have.
Lauren LeFranc (Agents of SHIELD) is serving as the showrunner of the series. She will also executive produce alongside Farrell, The Batman director Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassan, and Rafi Crohn. Craig Zobel was recently tapped to direct the first two episodes of the series. After starring on Broadway, Milioti rose to prominence when she joined the final season of How I Met Your Mother. She went on to appear in TV shows such as Made for Love, The Resort, the second season of Fargo, and the “USS Callister” episode of Black Mirror. She also starred in films such as The Wolf of Wall Street and Palm Springs. Milioti is certainly a wonderful addition to the cast. Not only she’s a talented actress, but it looks like she will have a juicy part in the series where she can showcase her acting chops. Based on what we know so far, it looks like her character will be very prominent in Oswald’s journey of navigating the Gotham criminal underworld since she has deep ties with the now-deceased Carmine.
