According to Deadline, Chernobyl star Emily Watson and Harry Potter actress Shirley Henderson have been tapped to star in Dune: The Sisterhood. They will play Valya Harkonnen and Tula Harkonnen, respectively. They are the Harkonnen Sisters who have risen to power in the Sisterhood, a secret organization of women who will eventually become the Bene Gesserit. The series is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides (as depicted in Dune) and it will follow the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.

Diane Ademu-John serves as the creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer of the series. Johan Renck is set to direct the first episode and serve as executive producer as well. Denis Villeneuve, who directs the Dune films, is also part of the executive producing team. It is exciting to see that a talented actress like Watson has been cast to star in the series alongside Henderson, who is also a wonderful actress in both stage and screen. It is curious to see how they’ll do with their respective roles and which other actors will be joining them in this highly-anticipated series.
