The show spanned ten seasons and covered many important events in the main characters’ lives, from their careers to their romantic relationships. Rachel and Ross’ relationship was one of the recurring points in the show, but before they finally got together, they each went through a lot (remember Rachel, I mean Emily?). There was even a time when Rachel fell in love with Joey.
Joey and Rachel’s Friendship
Rachel and Joey started as great friends, sharing a platonic relationship that displayed a healthy relationship between two individuals who loved each other and wished each other well. Rachel would dress up Joey for auditions, helping him become more stylish, even lending him a unisex bag that was not meant to carry sandwiches. Joey came to Rachel’s rescue, being the big brother who would protect her and even beat her boss when she said they offered to buy her baby. Things started to change when Rachel and Joey lived together because of the fire that started in Rachel and Phoebe’s apartment in Season 9. One day, Joey and Rachel went out on a date as friends. Joey found himself enjoying the date, but he denied his feelings until he couldn’t anymore. Joey confesses his feelings to Rachel, and she turns him down at first, but they eventually get together.
So Did They?
Joey and Rachel never slept together, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Though they made several attempts, something always got in the way. Joey and Rachel then agree that maybe things weren’t working out for them as it did for Monica and Chandler because Mondler weren’t as good friends as Joey and Rachel.
