Every year, My Hero Academia holds popularity polls that ask fans in Japan who their favorite characters are. This year, the poll’s results remain unchanged from the polls from previous years. Spoiler Warning: There are My Hero Academia manga spoilers in this article.
MHA’s Most Popular Characters
Even outside Japan, Bakugo is considered one of the most popular characters in the series. This makes sense given that he’s one of the earliest characters to be introduced, not to mention that he has a compelling redemption arc. His popularity was made apparent a couple of months ago when he was seemingly killed by Tomura Shigaraki during the series’ final arc. During this time, Bakugo became a trending topic on Twitter and other platforms. Right behind Bakugo in the latest poll is Deku, the series’ main character. This is once again unsurprising considering that shonen manga protagonists often rank highly in popularity polls such as these. Rounding out the top three is Shoto Todoroki, another fan favorite that is often considered part of Class 1-A’s big three. It’s interesting to note that all previous popularity polls had these three characters as the most popular. In fact, Bakugo, Deku, and Todoroki ranked first to third since the fifth popularity poll. My Hero Academia 8th Character Popularity Poll
Most fans probably expected these results, though some surprise characters also made it to the upper ranks of the poll. Here are the top 15 characters in the show’s latest popularity poll: Given the events of the final arc, it’s no surprise to see Endeavor being fourth on the list. Hawks at the eighth place is also a given since he has been a major player in the past couple of arcs. Perhaps the most surprising result here is Rody Soul who ranked 15th. If you just read the manga, you might not be familiar with him as he’s an original character made for the My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission movie. My Hero Academia’s final arc is currently in full swing, which means its ending is on the horizon. The manga’s latest chapter is set to release next week on Manga Plus.
