Alice in Borderland Season 2 Introduces The Queen of Spades
In Alice in Borderland Season 2 Episode 5, Yuzuha Usagi decides to help a little boy named Kota overcome a Face Card Game so his visa can be renewed. Unfortunately, the next one is the Queen of Spades and the other players are reluctant to let the child participate in case he weighs them down. However, Ryohei Arisu finally returns and vouches for Usagi’s abilities in Spade games.
Unfortunately, the Queen of Spades chooses Kota as the King of the Challenger Team. Since the losing team will be killed along with the King, it appeared that the boy’s fate was already sealed.
How To Play in The Queen of Spades
As one participant pointed out, “Checkmate” or The Queen of Spades is similar to Shogo where captured pieces can be used by the opponent against the original owner. Participants who are tagged will become part of the opponent’s team and help in capturing more players. By the end of 16 rounds, the team with the least number of players will be killed with their King.
The Queen of Spades is unique considering that it is a Face Card Game that does not appear in the Haro Aso manga. In addition to that, it grants players who are on the Queen’s team the chance to be temporary Citizens and avoid being gunned down by the King of Spades. The Queen of Spades was played by Chihiro Yamamoto, who previously worked with Kento Yamazaki and director Shinsuke Sato on the film Kingdom 2: Far and Away.
